Our History

On November 27, 1914, the Samarasa Sanmarga Sangam was founded in the village of Pudupalayam as a collective vision of the community. Led by Pulavar Pu. Pa. Masilamani, several village elders joined hands to establish a "Dharma Dravida Kalasaalai" in a small rented building.

Recognized as the first library established in the old North Arcot region, it quickly grew from a local reading room into a premier institution for historical preservation. For over a century, we have served as a guardian of Tamil literature, housing thousands of books that date back as far as the mid-19th century.

"Our mission is to maintain a community-centered space where the intellectual wealth of Tamil literature is preserved and shared with all seekers of knowledge, regardless of background."
